Story by: Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey

Meredith Willson's The Music Man was an immediate hit when it premiered on Broadway in 1957, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The cast album held the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for 12 weeks and stayed on the charts for a total of 245 weeks. The album won the first Grammy Award for "Best Original Cast Album." The Music Man follows fast talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. The Music Man features a beautiful score that includes the songs "Ya Got Trouble," "Good Night My Someone," "Till There Was You," and "Seventy-Six Trombones."

The Music Man is appropriate for audiences ages 8 to 88.
